About Sherb Sentell III
Sherb Sentell III is the elected Minden City Court Judge and a practicing attorney in Minden, Louisiana. Sherb is also an active member of the United States Army Reserves and currently holds the rank of Colonel. He currently serves as a joint logistics officer at the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) located at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida.
A highly decorated officer, he earned the General Douglas MacArthur Leadership Award, which is awarded to only six Reserve Soldiers a year who exhibit outstanding leadership and portray the “Duty, Honor, Country” ideals of General MacArthur. An Airborne Ranger, Sherb Sentell was deployed to Iraq during both Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. For both deployments, he earned a Bronze Star Medal, once as an Infantry Second Lieutenant and Platoon Leader, and the second time as the MCT HUB Commander for
a Logistical Support Area.
Following his first tour of active duty service, Sherb Sentell III decided to attend law school, graduating fifth in his class from the Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center in Baton Rouge. While in college, Mr. Sentell wrote for the Louisiana Law Review and was inducted into the Order of the Coif, an honorary society for legal scholars. Sherb Sentell has been selected and inducted into the LSU Law Center Hall of Fame.
Upon graduating, Sherb Sentell III worked as a Federal Judicial Clerk in the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana. He then joined the Sentell Law Firm, L.L.C. in Minden, Louisiana, where he has practiced ever since. After winning a murder trial, Sherb Sentell was hired as a prosecutor for the State of Louisiana. Sherb Sentell prosecuted felony and serious misdemeanor cases for over 13 years as an Assistant District Attorney in Webster Parish, a position in which Sentell has never lost a criminal jury trial. Sherb was then elected in 2014 to serve as the Minden City Court Judge, serving six municipalities and the southern half of Webster Parish (County), Louisiana.
Taking an active role in community endeavors, Sherb Sentell III is the President of the Minden Lion's Club,and co-founder and a former board member of the Webster Education Endowment Fund, Inc. Mr. Sentell has worked as a volunteer firefighter and rescue diver, and helps with the annual fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. He serves on numerous community and volunteer boards and is a past Chairman of the Minden-South Webster Chamber of Commerce. Sentell is a life member of the NRA and avid hunter. Sherb is a former King of the Krewe des Ambassadeurs Mardi Gras Krewe. Sherb has two children and they are
members of First United Methodist Church in Minden.
