Sherb Sentell was sworn in as the Minden-Ward 1 City Judge in December 2014, following the retirement of Judge John C. Campbell. The Minden City Judge is allowed to maintain a private law practice and Sentell is also a partner at Sentell Law Firm, where he focuses on trial litigation in suits brought against building contractors, serious personal injury, and contract law. Previously, Sentell served for over 13 years as Assistant District Attorney representing Louisiana’s 26th Judicial District and primarily handled serious felony cases such as murder, rape, robbery and child molestation cases.
Judge Harmon Drew Jr., who serves on the Louisiana Second Circuit Court of Appeal, administered the oath of office to Sentell and wished him success in implementing his vision for the court. Sentell identified updating the city court’s technology as one of the first things on his agenda. After being elected, Sentell successfully updated the court’s computer system. In addition, Sentell implemented and started a program for rehabilitating juvenile offenders. Sentell hopes his new juvenile program will help rehabilitate and teach life skills to juveniles and keep them from getting in trouble again.
