An experienced contract law and personal injury lawyer, Col. Sherb Sentell III has served as a partner at Sentell Law Firm, LLC, for the last two decades. Maintaining concurrent responsibilities as a Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve, Col. Sherb Sentell III recently received the Meritorious Service Medal (MSM) for three years of service as the commander of his battalion.
First established through Executive Order 1148 on January 16, 1969, the MSM originally recognized those who had provided distinguished achievement in a non-combat setting. Based on the designs of Jay Morris of the Army’s Institute of Heraldry, the eagle-embossed bronze medal has served as a counterpart to the Bronze Star Medal since its inception.
A second Executive Order in July 1981 amended the criteria through which an individual could earn the MSM, subsequently permitting members of any friendly foreign nation’s Armed Forces to receive the award. Since September 11, 2001, the MSM has honored exemplary non-combat achievement as well as active participation in a combat area.
