Minden Medical Center recently received its ninth consecutive “A” rating from the Hospital Safety Score, which pulls from data collected by the Leapfrog Group. Through its flagship Leapfrog Hospital Survey, Leapfrog Group fosters hospital transparency and health care safety.
The country’s gold standard in evaluating hospital performance on safety, the use of resources, and quality, the Leapfrog Hospital Survey collects data from medical centers nationwide. The survey rates the performance of each hospital’s facilities and requests transparency in hospital reporting through a comprehensive survey process and an intensive data review to verify information. Survey results are made public at no charge to health care providers or patients, and the Leapfrog database allows patients to compare ratings between local hospitals. Additionally, survey results recognize top-performing hospitals and contribute to the Hospital Safety Score.
Launched in 2001, the Leapfrog Hospital Survey features nine sections that cover different hospital facilities and areas of care, such as ICU physician staffing, maternity care, and evidence-based hospital referrals.
Access to the survey opens annually on April 1, and the Evaluation Tool goes live on April 15. Hospitals that submit their surveys by June 30 will have their results publically reported starting July 25.
